How do you know when a website is a scam?

How do you know if a website is a scam? This is a question that you should ask yourself when interested in signing up!!
Do you know after you've skipped all the T&C's & your details are being used for anything & everything you know you haven't signed upto?
Is it when you've been duped into handing over your credit card details and mysterious transactions start appearing?
Looking for companies that pay you for participation on the internet can be hazardous, whether your looking for networking sites, blogging, writing or any other way. When I say hazardous I mean, how do you know when a sites a scam??
There are many sites that you can use to check other peoples experiences, Mylot.com is a big favourite of mine. Here you can start discussions about anything you like (within their guidelines) and read other members opinions or experiences. This is great for researching websites and you earn for your participation. Participation is described as starting/responding to a discussion, uploading images on discussions, completing tasks and more.
You can also type in the website name into a search engine with the word “scam” next to it, for example I would input the website name, *******.com scam, and click search on home-pages friends search box. 1, I could earn from the results shown by home-pages friends and 2, the results will bring up blogs (which are written by real people) and their opinions on that website.
The only thing with real people’s opinions is they are just that “Opinions”, it may be they have had a bad experience with the site because they didn’t follow the T&C’s of that site. If you read several blogs by different people and they all say the same thing, then I would be very careful with that site.
There are lots of scam sites about however most are easily researched and whittled out with a few clicks of a mouse. Good sites are open honest and will have more good reviews than bad!!! (Remember, no one can please everybody, so every site will have at least 1 bad review)
Also there are numerous sites that will offer advice and help on which sites are scams and which ones are not. Things to look out for and the latest scams to be aware of.
I use I’ve tried that and Rip off report. These are sites are different but offer good advice by either tried and tested or consumer reviews.
My tips for looking for scam sites:
1) Don’t just sign up because the 1st page sounds great.
2) Always check T&C’s (Terms & Conditions) on every site you are interested in. Yes it’s boring but most are fairly standard and after reading a couple you’ll know exactly which bits to pay attention to.
3) Research the website!!! Use a search engine with the word scam, use social networking & advice sites!!
4) Always be sceptical but open minded
5) Be cautious about handing out finicial information, most PTC, surveys etc will ask for some way of paying you but programmes such as Paypal are often an option.
6) My rule of thumb, If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is!!!!!
